Smokefree Audit
Over the next two years, Toi Te Ora - Public Health Service is undertaking an audit of all schools in the Bay of Plenty and Lakes Districts to ensure they maintain a Smokefree environment.
Section 7A of the Smokefree Environment Act 1990 requires the manager of the school to take all reasonable practical steps to ensure;
- No person smokes in any part of the premises at any time, and
- Signs are displayed at all entrances to the school, and within the school, explaining that smoking is not permitted at any time.

Does your school have Smokefree signage?
Not only are schools legally required to display Smokefree signs, it’s a way to promote being a Smokefree environment to students, teachers and the wider community.
