Sewage Treatment & Disposal

Human and animal sewage contains large numbers of potential pathogens (disease causing organisms).  If sewage collection, treatment and disposal are not managed properly it can pose a significant threat to public health.

Health Protection Officers work with regional and local council on planning and resource consent processes, surveillance, information gathering and responding to incidents and complaints.
