What do we do?

Public health is about action that protects our environments, prevents illness and injury and promotes health and wellbeing of communities.   

Toi Te Ora - Public Health Service is contracted by the Ministry of Health to provide public health services for the Bay of Plenty and Lakes Districts.

Our mission is to achieve health and well being for all through leading, developing, championing and implementing collective public health action.

Our work involves people and organisations working together to improve the health of communities and reduce health inequalities.

Our staff work across the region in this beautiful part of New Zealand and can be based in any of our three offices in Tauranga, Rotorua and Whakatane.
